Grădina Japoneză

The Japanese Garden sits inside Herăstrău Park and is one of the quietest corners in the north of the city. It is a Japanese-inspired garden built around a pond, with arched bridges, carefully placed stones, stone lanterns and planting that plays on the contrast between water, greenery and rock. The composition follows the principles of Japanese gardens, in which every element is placed with intent, to create balance and a sense of harmony, so that the whole space invites calm and contemplation.

Unlike the busier parts of the park, the rhythm here is different. People come to stroll slowly, to settle on a bench by the water, to photograph the reflections. In spring, when the trees blossom, and in autumn, when the foliage turns, the garden is at its most striking. It is small compared with the park around it, but that intimate scale is exactly what makes it so pleasant — you can take it all in on a short walk, without ever feeling rushed. The water of the pond, the bridges and the stones together create a carefully composed landscape, in which every angle seems meant to be looked at slowly.
