Henri Coandă International Airport (Otopeni)

Bucharest's main airport and Romania's busiest — nearly all scheduled flights use Henri Coandă (OTP). Here's how to get to and from the city, what to expect, and live departures and arrivals.

Airport

Getting there

Bus 100 Express

Piața Unirii ↔ OTP, ~3 lei, contactless onboard. It replaced line 783 in December 2023.

CFR train

Gara de Nord ↔ Henri Coandă, ~6.50 lei, about 20–25 minutes.

Taxi / Bolt

Door to door; order via app to avoid the unlicensed-taxi trap at arrivals.

Private transfer

Fixed-price car booked in advance — easiest with luggage or late flights.

Metro M6 (future)

Gara de Nord → Otopeni is under construction, expected around 2028–2029. Not available yet.

Facilities

  • Departures and arrivals terminals, with shops, cafés and currency exchange
  • ATMs and SIM/eSIM kiosks
  • Car-rental desks and pickup
  • Lounges airside
  • Step-free access and assistance on request

Tips

  • For Schengen flights arrive ~1.5–2h early; non-Schengen ~2–3h.
  • Bus 100 and the CFR train are the cheapest ways into the centre.
  • Order taxis via Bolt/Uber rather than accepting offers at the door.
