Parcul Tineretului

Parcul Tineretului is the green lung of southern Bucharest, a park laid out in the 1960s on land that had been, until then, marshes and rubbish dumps on the edge of the city. Turning that ground into a modern park was one of the era's major landscaping projects, part of a wider effort to give the south of the city a green space to match its new districts. Today it covers a sizeable area in Sector 4 and is organised around a broad lake with islands, bridges and banks where locals come to run, fish or simply sit on the grass.
