Pipera is the Bucharest that works. In just a few years, the former fields and factories of the north turned into a forest of office towers, with tens of thousands of people commuting in daily. The name once belonged to a quiet village on the city's edge; today it's shorthand for corporate Bucharest. Don't look for old churches or grand mansions here — it's a new, ever-changing area with its own functional charm, where the skyline keeps growing year on year.

The vibe

By day, Pipera is all suits, lanyards and coffee queues, the engine room of the city's IT and corporate economy. By night, the entertainment side takes over: the area is known for big clubs and venues that run late, and many of the city's most popular nightlife addresses sit here. It's a particular contrast: spreadsheets in the morning, the dance floor at night, often in the same few streets.

What to do

This isn't a sight-ticking neighbourhood. Come for a night out, an event, or because you have business in one of the towers. For meals, the local restaurants lean modern and office-oriented, with plenty of lunch spots aimed at the weekday crowd and a handful of smarter places for the evening.

Getting there

The metro runs to Pipera station, the northern end of the line, but the area is sprawling, so expect a walk or a short ride afterwards to reach the towers further out.
